AP021 - 1CD - 77' - Sep 27, 2011

Romanian young coloratura soprano Teodora Gheoghiu performs bravura arias paying tribute to Anna De Amicis, an 18th-century soprano. Accompanied by Christophe Rousset, she showcases great virtuosity and sensitivity. A record highlighting the talent of the singer.

The young Romanian coloratura soprano Teodora Gheoghiu won the Fourth Prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Singing Competition in Brussels. She immediately made a highly acclaimed debut in the role of the Queen of the Night at La Monnaie in Brussels, then at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, before being called to the Vienna Staatsoper, where she sang the great roles of the repertoire, including Nanetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Elvira in Rossini's L'Italienne à Alger, and Sophie in Massenet's Werther.

The program, conceived by Teodora Gheorghiu and Christophe Rousset, traces the career of soprano Anna De Amicis, creator of Lucio Silla, whose talent marked European opera at the end of the 18th century.

This disc is a succession of bravura arias interpreted by the young singer whose virtuosity and sensitivity rival Natalie Dessay's art.
